Istanbul, Turkey

I have had such a lovely time in Istanbul. Time went by really fast and I did not get to do as much as I had planned. I want to go back maybe by the end of the year or next year.
On this holiday I went to such places as the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, went through the Grand Bazaar after spending too much time with a really annoying and aggressive guy I met. The big read bus city sightseeing tour was very interesting too and allows you to see both sides of the city. There were a lot of things I missed so I want to see that next time. Istanbul is a really large city and it's not easy to see in a week.
The hotel was okay and the guys were very good company especially Daniel : ). The evenings were great and I did not get bored. I'm not one for going out in the evening on my own.

A day out in Greenwich

This trip could have been better but unfortuantely I was struck with a bout of food poisoning which is a seriously God awful feeling. Most of the day I was panicky thinking what if I have picked up Swine Flu whilst riding the Tube. The whole day ws filled with ups and downs. One moment I am fine the next I am killing over.
Anyways the time at Greenwich was fine. Not what I had been told to expect. Everything was nice and green.
This has got to be one of the loveliest green parks in all of the world. It's a quite relaxing environment. Adrian and I spent most of the time at the Royal Observatory and the National Maritime Museum. Yes it was exciting to be able to go up and stand on the Prime Meridian, the centre of time. I love clocks and those in the museums are quite a sight to see to. I guess it's the Bell in me.

Crazy weather

The weather everywhere is certainly a laugh. In the first photo I am enjoying a sunny day walking around Bournemouth beach and the following week everything's frozen.

Checking out the scenes

In Bristol on a sunny day; walking around Paris and taking a coffee break in Bratislava.

Castles, cities and rivers

This blog features various places throughout Europe.

At the top is the stunning Bratislava Castle.
Vienna: Swarovski Crystal: This wall is very beautiful. It would be great to have a wall like this in the bath.
The Spanish Riding School Winter Riding Arena for Lipizzan Stallions.
Typical Viennese street scenes.
Prague over looking Vltava River.
A street of pubs near Temple Bar in Dublin, Dublin Castle and a beautiful red brick building across the street from St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Okay I'm doing it! Istanbul

Yes this blog is titled Travelling in Europe but since Turkey is a bit here and in Asia I'll just add this blog.

Decided I will go ahead and take the one week holiday to Istanbul. Found a pretty good deal on a flight through KLM and will stay at a hotel in the Sultanahmet. This time I am going alone. I was a bit apprehensive about doing so but I have heard a few females claim to have know problems travelling in Turkey alone and that it's probably easier than being in London or the US.
I am glad the area I am going to is near all the touristy places that I wnat to visit like the Blue Mosque, the Grand Bazaar, Egyptian Bazaar, Hagia Sophia Museum and Topkapi Museum. Maybe even visit a Turkish bath.

I hoping to buy some really nice gold at the bazaar and hopefully do a good bargain.
